About Us
Casa dei Bambini Montessori School opened its doors in 2006 to educating children through the Montessori philosophy. We are the first Montessori School dedicated to educating children through this method in the Amherst/Clarence area. In 2008, we expanded our school to include first grade students. Casa dei Bambini Montessori is a member of the American Montessori Society and is in the process of full accreditation from AMS. We strive to embrace the history and educational methods of Maria Montessori.
About Dr. Maria Montessori
Dr. Maria Montessori was the first woman to graduate from the University of Rome Medical School. She became interested in education while treating mentally challenged children at the University's psychiatric clinic. Gradually Dr. Montessori realized that these children were capable of learning much more than it was generally believed. Her teaching brought about remarkable results and set the foundation for the Montessori Method.
Dr. Montessori began her work of organizing schools for normal children with her first Casa dei Bambini in San Lorenzo, Italy in 1907. Maria Montessori later opened Montessori schools all over the world. A famous teacher and author, Dr Montessori died in 1952. During 2007, we celebrate 100 years of children education in the Montessori Method and are proud to be a part of the expansion of this philosophy in Western New York.
About Our School
Led by Ms. Krista Jelsovsky, a certified Montessori educator, the School upholds standards set by the American Montessori Society.
Casa dei Bambini Montessori School is proudly owned by Anthony, Clarine, and Anna Insinna (brother and sisters), founders of Doodle Bugs! Children’s Centers. The Insinna family has provided high quality early childhood programs in Western New York since 1992; their dedication to young children and their families is matched only by their commitment to continuous improvement and innovation.
That commitment to innovative programs, coupled with their family’s strong Italian heritage, prompted the Insinnas to create Casa dei Bambini Montessori School as the latest addition to their family business.
You can learn more about specific enrollment options, and about the classroom environment by exploring Our Programs.
